Officer Randy Rickard quietly ended a 30-year career in law enforcement on Friday (Sept. 16) when he retired from the Pensacola Police Department. 

Officer Rickard was initially hired by the department as a cadet on September 15, 1986, and was promoted to police officer on April 29, 1987.

Among his assignments were Uniform Patrol, TAC, Investigations, Traffic, and field training officer. He served as a K-9 handler from 1995 until he assumed additional duties as officer-in-charge of the K-9 Unit from November 1998 until December 2013 when he transferred to COPS (Community Oriented Policing Services).
