A teen-aged male who escaped from a police officer July 19 while he was being taken into a local correctional facility has been arrested.
Jajuan Luzell Millender, 17, of the 100 block of East Yonge Street, Pensacola was taken into custody this morning in the 7900 block of Perth Avenue. He was wanted on outstanding warrants for escape, larceny, battery on a law enforcement officer, grand theft of a vehicle, and resisting with violence.
The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred around 8 a.m. July 19 when officers were dispatched to the area of Tarragona and Yonge streets on a report of a suspicious vehicle backed into a vacant lot. When police arrived, the suspect – later identified as Jajuan Millender – drove out of the lot in a stolen vehicle.
Millender and the stolen vehicle were found a short time later in the 2300 block of North Spring Street, but the suspect fled from police. Millender was taken into custody after he ran from his house, but he struggled with officers and kicked one officer in the mouth. He also damaged a right rear panel in a police vehicle by kicking it from the outside.
Millender, who was handcuffed at the time, managed to escape from an officer while he was being taken into the Department of Juvenile Justice, 1800 St. Mary Ave.
